Josh Tongue has taken 251 wickets in first-class cricket from 66 matches at an average of 25.81. England fast bowler Josh Tongue has signed a new three-year contract with reigning county champions Nottinghamshire that will keep him at Trent Bridge until at least the end of the 2029 season. The 28-year-old has taken 33 wickets in seven first-class matches for Notts at an average of 22.87 since moving from Worcestershire in 2024.

Tongue played six of those red-ball games early last summer, picking up 31 wickets, including three five-wicket hauls, as Notts went on to claim their first County Championship title since 2010. So far this season he has played once, taking two wickets in Notts' thumping 192-run win over Glamorgan.

"I love playing here and I feel my game has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years, so I can't wait to see what the future holds," Tongue said in a statement on the club's website. "I'm committed to giving everything for Nottinghamshire whenever I step out onto the field and I'm really excited about the next few years."

Holders Notts earn big victory over Glamorgan. On the aftermath of Notts' Championship win, Tongue has 'learned' from NZ nightclub episode. Tongue made his Test debut against Ireland at Lord's in 2023 and has taken 49 wickets from nine matches for England. He was one of the stand-out performers on an otherwise wretched Ashes tour to Australia last winter, taking 18 wickets in his three appearances, including his first five-wicket haul in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG - England's only win in their 4-1 series defeat.
